Applied AI Data Scientist

Work across client projects and internal research initiatives to solve real-world problems, build data-driven solutions, leverage machine learning models, and pursue high-impact research aligned with increasing agency. Promising projects may become prioritized Skunkworks initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Work on a mix of client projects and internal research initiatives
• Build data-driven solutions and leverage machine learning models
• Propose and pursue high-impact research projects
• Contribute to AI alignment research
• Manage client relationships and deliver results

Requirements

• Fluency in Python
• Experience with the LLM lifecycle, including prompt design and engineering, RAG, few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought, vector databases, multimodality, fine-tuning, and evaluation
• Proven data science experience delivering real-world outcomes
• Statistical and causal ML fundamentals, including experimental design, uncertainty quantification, and rigorous model evaluation
• Deep learning experience building and training NLP or computer vision models with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
• Experience with Agile development using lean Kanban or Scrum cycles and AI-powered tools such as Cursor
• Growth mindset

• Effective communication in English
