Underwriting Lead

You will underwrite new accounts and exposure changes using financial statements bank and transaction data bureau information ownership details and internal signals. You will prepare credit recommendations manage application queues document decisions track exceptions investigate bottlenecks and improve decisioning audit trails. You will also create procedures examples and standards for consistent underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new accounts and material exposure changes
• Prepare credit memos and recommendations
• Exercise delegated authority and escalate exceptions or complex cases
• Manage application queues document collection decision turnaround rework and escalations
• Establish operating metrics and investigate bottlenecks
• Maintain decision documentation reason codes approval conditions and exception tracking
• Conduct calibration and quality reviews
• Build decisioning evidence and audit trails
• Train future underwriting team members and create procedures examples and decision standards

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial credit underwriting experience
• Experience with SMBs commercial cards working-capital products or fintech lending preferred
• Ability to analyze financial statements cash flow liquidity leverage repayment capacity bank activity and bureau or alternative data
• Sound judgment in ambiguous cases and ability to write defensible credit recommendations
• Experience with credit policy delegated authority exception governance and regulated or bank partner environments
• Operational discipline and strong cross-functional communication
