Staff Product Designer DeFi

You will set the design vision and experience strategy for DeepBook and related financial products. You will lead end-to-end product design across trading, margin, prediction markets, liquidity, onboarding, portfolio management, and transaction workflows. You will partner with product, engineering, legal, security, marketing, and business stakeholders; establish research and quality measures; build scalable design systems; and lead and develop designers while remaining hands-on with critical product flows.

Responsibilities

• Set the design vision, principles, and priorities with product, engineering, and business leadership
• Own the end-to-end experience across DeepBook spot, margin, prediction products, liquidity workflows, and first-party applications
• Lead design for onboarding, funding, market discovery, order entry, transaction signing, portfolio management, collateral, liquidation, settlement, and recovery workflows
• Design coherent experiences for retail traders, DeFi users, market makers, liquidity providers, institutions, and developers
• Frame problems, develop concepts, prototype, test, and review implementation quality for priority work
• Build scalable design systems and interaction patterns for financial data, charts, tables, account states, alerts, and risk communication
• Establish research using interviews, usability studies, product analytics, support feedback, and market observation
• Partner with engineering to understand protocol behavior, transaction states, latency, data dependencies, security boundaries, and platform constraints
• Work with legal, security, marketing, business development, and ecosystem teams to launch products responsibly
• Define design and product quality measures tied to activation, conversion, trading success, retention, support burden, and user trust

Requirements

• 10 or more years of product design experience
• Experience leading, hiring, and developing designers
• Portfolio demonstrating individual design craft and leadership across complex data-dense products
• Experience designing trading, investing, fintech, payments, crypto, marketplace, or other high-stakes products
• Fluency in DeFi and direct experience using onchain products
• Knowledge of swaps, order books, liquidity, routing, slippage, collateral, leverage, liquidation, settlement, smart-contract risk, and transaction signing
• Interaction design, information architecture, visual design, prototyping, research, and systems thinking skills
• Experience building design systems and operating practices across multiple products
