Staff Engineer HMS DevOps DevEx

You will automate developer-tool workflows and build CI/CD pipelines for C++, Python, and Node.js projects. You will integrate GitLab, Jira, and Confluence; manage runners and registries; deploy testing infrastructure in Azure Gov Cloud; migrate builds to Nix; and troubleshoot development-environment issues.

Responsibilities

• Write, configure, and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and runner environments.
• Build, test, and deploy tooling integrations, webhook dispatchers, and state-change scripts.
• Write Python or Bash extensions for the pi-gov harness.
• Deploy, scale, and configure Forge in Azure Gov Cloud.
• Maintain and secure Artifactory package registries.
• Migrate legacy build systems to reproducible Nix developer environments.
• Troubleshoot pipeline, build, registry, and configuration issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building, maintaining, and scaling enterprise CI/CD systems.
• Deep expertise in GitLab CI/CD pipelines and runner infrastructure.
• Experience writing Bash and Python scripts and using webhooks and APIs to integrate engineering tools.
• Experience with Docker, multi-stage builds, and package managers such as Conan, Poetry, or Nix.
• Familiarity with cloud application workloads such as Azure Gov Cloud or AWS.
• Experience with secure software development, secret management, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
• Linux system administration, networking, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
