Staff Backend Engineer (Terminal)

Baton Corporation builds and operates the technology stack behind pump.fun, a high-volume memecoin launchpad. This role focuses on solving complex backend problems, designing and operating distributed production services, setting technical direction, and mentoring engineers in an intense in-person environment.

Responsibilities

• Own backend performance, scaling, correctness, and reliability challenges.
• Set technical direction and make architectural decisions for core backend systems.
• Design, build, and operate distributed production services.
• Identify systemic issues and drive ambiguous, cross-cutting problems to resolution.
• Mentor peers, review designs and code, and raise the engineering quality bar.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale multiple times.
• Strong experience with Rust, Go, or TypeScript.
• Deep knowledge of databases and data modeling, including consistency, performance, and reliability tradeoffs.
• Demonstrated ability to solve highly challenging technical problems.
• High agency, ownership, and ability to drive ambiguous problems to concrete outcomes.
• Crypto experience is a plus but is not required.
