The Position

Software Engineering Expert

In this role, you will provide global support for technical initiatives, share knowledge internationally, and shape the organization's technical direction. We are looking for deep expertise across multiple technology areas, a commitment to high code quality and security standards, and a proven ability to remove team obstacles while optimizing developer productivity across the software development lifecycle.

The Opportunity:

  • Scope: Provide strategic technical guidance and set the direction for the wider data product tooling portfolio, in alignment with business goals and priorities. Take ownership of developing new components and ideas while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver end-to-end experiences to data product owners, stewards, and consumers.
  • Architectural Evolution: Provide strategic technology and architecture advisory for AI-ready data products while enforcing domain boundaries across the metadata, access governance, and data quality surfaces, and maintaining high performance.
  • AI-based software development: Drive the team toward adopting best practices and tools in AI-based software development, and lead the design and rollout of agentic AI workflows that accelerate how the team designs, builds, reviews, and ships.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as an advisor on technology and software development topics to data domain, governance, and platform stakeholders, providing direction for mid- to long-term goals and objectives.
  • Impact/Strategy: Provide global support for innovative and technological initiatives. Share knowledge locally and on global platforms, while actively engaging in RDT Data Domain and site-related activities.
  • Business/Technical ability: Actively contribute to the advancement of technical knowledge. Inspire innovation, drive solutions in line with technology trends, and focus on designing new approaches to existing problems.
  • Data & AI Knowledge: Build frontier digital products that create a 'Data for AI' and 'AI for Data' portfolio, enabling Roche business units to discover the true value of Data and AI. Serve as the technology lead in a team developing the products that manage the lifecycle of AI and Data assets - from initiation through publication, access, and quality - an essential capability for implementing the Group Data Strategy and building an AI-ready organization.

Who you are:

  • Previous experience driving cross-functional collaboration to solve complex technical problems and align disparate engineering efforts toward common goals.
  • Deep understanding of data processing principles and data requirements for AI readiness.
  • Deep expertise across multiple technology domains with a demonstrated ability to select and apply optimal tools to solve complex challenges.
  • Proficiency in React, NestJS (Node.js/TypeScript), and Neo4j with graph data modelling (Cypher), or similar technologies.
  • Working knowledge of the data-governance and integration surface these products sit on: Snowflake, Collibra for metadata governance, Immuta and attribute-based access control (ABAC) policy, GitLab CI/CD, dbt, REST API design and integration, YAML-based configuration and data contracts, data observability tooling such as Monte Carlo, and Tableau for quality and adoption reporting, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI building, evaluating, and operating LLM-based agents and tooling - and readiness to set up agentic workflows for an engineering team.
  • Strong grasp of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern software development tooling, with the ability to evaluate and integrate tools that enhance developer productivity and experience Roche-wide.
  • Solid understanding of software validation, regulatory processes, and software quality management practices (a plus).
  • Proven track record of clearing obstacles for technical teams, empowering them to deliver exceptional products.
  • Proactive mindset with a proven ability to anticipate future technical challenges and opportunities, developing strategies to keep the organization ahead.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

What you get:

  • Salary range 19,075 - 35,425 PLN gross based on the employment contract.
  • Annual bonus payment based on your performance.
  • Dedicated training budget (training, certifications, conferences, diversified career paths etc.).

  • Take time Program (up to 3 months of leave to use for any purpose).
  • Vacation subsidy available.
  • Flex Location (possibility to perform our work from different places in the world for a certain period of time).
