Senior Software Engineer

You will own Java services from requirements through production support. You will design, build, test, deploy, and operate low-latency order-management capabilities, market connectivity, and auditable order-state processing. You will support production incidents, improve testing and observability, use AI development tools responsibly, and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own work from requirements elaboration through delivery and production support.
• Design and build low-latency, high-throughput Java services for the order lifecycle.
• Build and maintain FIX sessions and venue-specific market connectivity.
• Model and evolve order and execution state.
• Ensure idempotency, ordering guarantees, deterministic replay, and auditable order-state transitions.
• Support the platform during market hours through on-call and incident response.
• Conduct design and code reviews, pair, mentor, and improve testing and observability.
• Use and critically review AI-assisted development tooling.
• Translate between trading requirements and system behaviour.

Requirements

• Commercial experience building and operating production Java backend systems.
• Java 17, Java 21, or later and modern Java language features.
• JVM concurrency, memory model, collections, allocation, garbage collection, latency, and throughput profiling.
• Distributed systems fundamentals.
• Unit, integration, end-to-end, deterministic, or property-based testing.
• SQL and relational data modelling.
• CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code, metrics, tracing, structured logging, and alerting.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
