Senior Embedded Engineer Safety

You will design and implement safety-relevant C++ software for QNX and POSIX systems. You will integrate hardware peripherals and communication protocols, build Python hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, contribute to hazard and safety analyses, improve CI and test tooling, and support audits and safety-compliance activities.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement safety-relevant software components in C++17 on QNX and POSIX systems
• Develop software services that interface with hardware peripherals, communication protocols, and vendor SDKs
• Build and maintain Python hardware-in-the-loop test automation infrastructure
• Participate in hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, fault tree analysis, and safety reviews
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, project, and development partners to achieve system safety goals
• Improve build systems, CI pipelines, developer tooling, and software test infrastructure
• Support audits, safety assessments, and functional safety compliance efforts
• Travel to support integration, testing, and cross-functional collaboration

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of systems-level or embedded software development experience
• Experience with C++, C, Rust, Go, or similar systems programming languages
• Understanding of POSIX userspace concepts including threads, sockets, signals, IPC, and shared memory
• Experience working with hardware, datasheets, register maps, and hardware interface documentation
• Professional Python tooling or automation infrastructure experience
• Knowledge of version control, code reviews, CI/CD, documentation, and maintainable software architecture
• QNX or RTOS experience, IEC 61508 familiarity, TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification, HIL testing, vendor SDK integration, or binary communication protocol experience preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client and customer locations
