Senior Backend Engineer

You will design, build, and operate Scala services for blockchain account management, transaction processing, and on-chain data aggregation. You will lead blockchain integrations, improve production reliability and observability, resolve incidents, define service contracts, review architecture and code, use AI coding tools safely, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Scala backend services
• Lead blockchain integrations from architecture design through production
• Manage account creation, transaction processing, broadcasting, and lifecycle tracking
• Define and maintain SLIs, SLOs, observability, and distributed tracing
• Participate in incident response and drive incidents to resolution
• Define service contracts with partner teams
• Write and review ADRs
• Improve code quality, testing, and technical debt management
• Use AI coding agents with specifications, constraints, and verification
• Mentor engineers and share backend knowledge

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Production ownership of distributed systems
• Interest in Scala and functional programming
• Blockchain integration experience across at least two blockchain models
• Experience with PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, NATS, or equivalent data infrastructure
• Experience with Datadog or equivalent observability tooling
• Ability to diagnose and resolve multi-service incidents
• Ability to contribute to TypeScript code
• Daily experience using AI coding tools
• Written English communication skills
