Robotics Field Service Technician

Formic is hiring a Robotics Field Service Technician for its Fleet Operations team. The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer support for deployed robotic automation systems in live manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
• Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
• Respond to on-site service calls and escalate unresolved issues to engineering.
• Provide technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
• Log service activity, asset updates, and spare part requirements in CMMS systems.
• Monitor system performance and report anomalies to engineering.
• Document service work and follow-up actions.
• Flag recurring issues and failure patterns for investigation.
• Build relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
• Follow safety standards including LOTO and industrial compliance.
• Support root-cause analysis, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
• Troubleshooting experience across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
• Experience using CMMS platforms.
• Ability to travel locally up to 80% and overnight up to 50%.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to safety and checklist-driven execution.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions with minimal oversight.
• Experience with industrial robot brands, manufacturing systems, customer-facing field service, or Spanish proficiency is a plus.
