Robotics Field Service Technician

Formic is hiring a Robotics Field Service Technician for its Fleet Operations team. The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to service calls, supports customer operators, documents work, and helps improve the reliability of deployed robotic systems in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
• Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
• Respond to on-site service calls and troubleshoot system issues.
• Provide technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
• Log service activity, asset updates, and spare parts in CMMS systems.
• Monitor system performance and report anomalies to engineering.
• Document service work and follow-up actions.
• Identify recurring issues and support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Build relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
• Follow LOTO, industrial safety, and compliance standards.
• Continuously develop skills in robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
• Troubleshooting experience across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
• Experience using CMMS platforms.
• Ability to travel locally up to 80% and overnight up to 50%.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to safety and checklist-driven field execution.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and complete directed tasks with minimal oversight.
• Experience with industrial robot brands, manufacturing automation, customer-facing field service, or Spanish proficiency is a plus.
