Principal Software Engineer

You will design and prototype generative AI experiences that accelerate autonomy development. You will shape the Hivemind product vision and documentation, lead generative AI user-experience design, work with technical leads to improve product experiences, conduct user research, and evaluate competing products and their user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype generative AI experiences for autonomy development
• Work with the Office of the CTO to define Hivemind product vision and documentation
• Lead user-experience design for Hivemind Generative AI
• Improve user experiences for Hivemind Commander and Hivemind Design
• Conduct user research to understand user personas and needs
• Research competing products and synthesize findings for engineering and product leadership

Requirements

• 15+ years developing large production-quality software systems
• Proficiency in a mainstream programming language
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, Git, code management, documentation, unit testing, and bug tracking
• 5+ years of React, Node, TypeScript, or JavaScript development
• 5+ years of web application development
• Full-stack web development knowledge, including DOM, browser APIs, WebSockets, HTTP streaming, Server-Sent Events, client state management, React rendering, SPA routing, and progressive rendering
• Multimodal input handling and client-side LLM context management
• Experience with Linux, Docker, and CI/CD
• Experience with Azure, GCP, or AWS
• Travel to a Shield AI location one to three times per quarter
