About Tessera Labs
Tessera is an AI-native platform for enterprise transformation. The multi-agent platform delivers governed execution across ERP, CRM, HCM, and finance systems, cutting timelines from years to weeks and costs by more than half. Built on deep expertise across Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, Workday, and other systems of record, Tessera addresses the scope a system integrator would have traditionally taken up with the speed of execution and efficiency of an AI-native platform.
For decades, enterprises have struggled with fragmented business systems, where migrations have consumed hundreds of millions of dollars, data stayed inconsistent and unreliable, and business processes slowed under manual review. Tessera was founded to change that, for Oracle and every other system enterprises depend on. The name itself — a tessera, a single tile in a mosaic — reflects our mission: unifying the disparate pieces of the enterprise into a coherent whole. Tessera is an AI-powered, multi-agent platform that harmonizes systems and lets teams work in plain English.
Role Summary
We are looking for an Oracle Fusion Project Accounting (PPM) SME to migrate a customer's capital project and cost accounting processes from their legacy system to Oracle Fusion Cloud Project Management (PPM), with a primary focus on the store build-out, remodel and relocation program. You will lead the assessment of current-state legacy processes, run a structured fit-gap analysis against Oracle Fusion standard functionality, and translate the resulting requirements into a greenfield Oracle configuration.
This is a build-new implementation rather than a lift-and-shift: you will use the legacy system as the authoritative source of how the business actually operates and what it must continue to produce, then design the Oracle-native solution that delivers those outcomes without replicating legacy workarounds or customizations.
Because this is a capital program, the design decisions go well beyond project costing: whether Budgetary Control is switched on and commitments encumber against project budgets, how change orders and contingency flow, how tenant improvement allowances interact with CIP and lease accounting, whether internal labor is capitalized, how remodels and closures drive retirements and impairments, how sales and use tax is handled across states, and who can see which project costs. You will own these decisions with the business and with the Oracle Fusion Financials consultant, as the interface between Project Accounting and the core financial modules is central to both the design and the migration.
You will do this work with Tessera's AI agents. The platform documents legacy processes and reports, traces how costs flow today, and generates a large share of the configuration workbooks, test scripts and conversion reconciliations. What it cannot do is decide whether a legacy report is a real requirement or a workaround, or how a capital appropriation should gate spend. That judgment is the role, and every time you exercise it we expect it to go back into the platform.
Two outcomes define the job. The first is a clean, standard-aligned Project Accounting solution that supports the store development program, asset reporting and the financial close, and passes audit. The second is that the customer's finance and construction teams adopt it as their normal way of working, without falling back to spreadsheets.
Why Join Tessera
Work with AI agents every day. Agents document legacy processes, draft configuration and test assets and reconcile conversions, so you spend your time on the design decisions that matter.
Own a real capital program end to end, from current-state discovery through design, conversion, cutover and hypercare.
Shape the platform, not just the project. Your Oracle PPM know-how becomes part of the Tessera platform and is reused across customers.
Work alongside senior Oracle architects, Forward Deployed Engineers and AI engineers, across several enterprise customers over time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legacy Assessment, Fit-Gap and Solution Assessment (15%)
Document the current-state capital project and cost accounting processes in the legacy environment, including how store build-out costs are captured, how construction in progress is tracked, and how assets are capitalized and depreciated today.
Reverse-engineer legacy configuration, custom programs, interfaces, reports and spreadsheet-based processes to identify the underlying business requirements, especially where the legacy system is undocumented or where institutional knowledge sits with individuals rather than in writing.
Inventory and assess legacy data quality, volumes and structures, including open and in-flight projects, historical cost detail, project budgets, open commitments and CIP balances, to inform conversion scope and cleansing requirements.
Conduct structured fit-gap analysis mapping each current-state and future-state requirement to Oracle Fusion PPM standard functionality, and maintain a requirements traceability matrix through design, build and test.
Classify each gap by disposition, distinguishing between requirements met by standard configuration, those requiring an extension or integration, those best resolved by changing the business process, and those that should be deprecated because they exist only to work around a legacy limitation.
Present gap findings, recommended resolutions, effort and risk estimates, and process change implications to finance and business leadership, and facilitate conference room pilots and solution demonstrations to validate the proposed design.
2. Capital Project Accounting Design and Configuration (30%)
Design and build the Oracle Fusion PPM configuration from a clean baseline, including project units, project types, capitalization options, expenditure categories and types, class categories, burden structures, rate schedules and asset cost allocation methods, applying a standard-first principle and carrying forward legacy behavior only where a documented business or accounting requirement justifies it.
Design the end-to-end store build-out process with Construction, Real Estate and Finance: one capital project per store, tied to the store master and to the capital appropriation request, with standard project templates and work breakdown structures by store format and asset class for a high-volume opening schedule.
Design system controls that enforce the capitalize-versus-expense decision, so construction costs accumulate as CIP while pre-opening costs such as hiring, training and grand-opening marketing are expensed as incurred, and capitalized assets transfer to Oracle Fusion Assets with correct in-service dates and depreciation accounts.
Budgetary control and encumbrance accounting: lead the decision on whether Budgetary Control is enabled for capital projects, whether requisitions and purchase orders encumber against project budgets, and how capital appropriation approvals gate spend; then design control budgets, tolerances and funds checking accordingly.
Change orders and contingency: design how general contractor change orders flow from approval through Procurement to project budget revisions, and how contingency is held, tracked and released within the project budget and forecast.
Tenant improvement allowances: design how landlord allowances are tracked against each store project, how they interact with CIP and capitalized leasehold improvements, and how they hand off to lease accounting under ASC 842.
Internal labor capitalization: design time capture for construction project managers and real estate staff who charge time to store projects, including the choice of Project Resource Management and timecards, labor rate schedules, capitalization rules and the evidence auditors will test.
Asset retirements and impairment: design the retirement of leasehold improvements replaced in relocations and remodels, and the impairment process for store closures, together with Fixed Assets.
Tax on construction spend: design sales and use tax treatment across states, including self-assessment of use tax on materials and contractor tax treatment, with the customer's tax team and the Financials consultant.
3. Security, Controls and Joint Design with Financials (10%)
Design Fusion role provisioning and project-level data security, so field construction project managers can manage costs on their own projects without seeing all project and financial data.
Design segregation of duties across project creation, budgeting, commitments, approvals and capitalization, and document it for audit.
Jointly design and sign off on the new chart of accounts with the Oracle Fusion Financials consultant, ensuring the store or cost center segment supports store-level profit and loss reporting, that CIP and clearing accounts are correctly defined, and that legacy account structures map cleanly to the Fusion design.
Jointly own Subledger Accounting design, taking responsibility for project cost distribution and account derivation rules while coordinating on the Payables, Procurement and Fixed Assets event classes so that clearing accounts reconcile from day one.
Coordinate on Fixed Assets configuration and conversion, so depreciation expense derives the correct store cost center and assets already capitalized in legacy are not double-counted against converting CIP, and align on Payables and Procurement setup covering project-based distributions, accrual behavior and retainage on general contractor invoices.
4. Data Migration and Conversion (15%)
Define the conversion strategy and scope for projects, tasks, budgets, historical cost detail, open commitments, CIP balances and legacy-to-Oracle project identifier cross-references, including how much history is brought across at detail versus summary level.
Build, execute and iterate conversion loads using FBDI and REST, and design the treatment of in-flight store projects at cutover, including which builds complete in legacy and which convert mid-construction.
Own the conversion reconciliation, proving that converted CIP balances, project budgets and committed amounts tie back to the legacy trial balance and to the Oracle General Ledger, and resolving variances with Corporate Accounting.
5. Capital Reporting (10%)
Own the replacement of the legacy capital reporting suite as a workstream in its own right: inventory existing reports and their consumers in Construction, Real Estate, Corporate Accounting, FP&A and executive leadership, rationalize them, and agree the target set.
Design and deliver the capital reporting in OTBI, BI Publisher and Fusion dashboards, covering budget versus actual versus forecast by store and project, commitments, contingency usage, CIP aging and capitalization status.
Validate the reports against converted data and the General Ledger during conversion and user acceptance testing.
6. Testing, Training, Cutover and Hypercare (10%)
Develop and execute conference room pilot, system integration, conversion and user acceptance test scripts covering the full capital project lifecycle from appropriation and commitment through change orders, capitalization, depreciation and retirement.
Author and maintain implementation deliverables including current-state process documentation, the fit-gap log, configuration workbooks, functional design documents, conversion specifications and the design decision log.
Build training materials and train end users, including construction project managers and field personnel who are moving off a familiar legacy tool and need simplified, guided processes.
Contribute to the cutover plan and runbook for Project Accounting, including conversion sequencing, legacy system freeze, opening balance validation and the first Oracle period close.
Provide hypercare after go-live, triaging cost import exceptions, distribution failures, unassigned asset lines and reconciliation variances, and resolving them at root cause rather than by manual correction; then transition knowledge to the support organization and assess Oracle quarterly updates for impacts to project costing, capitalization and budgetary control.
7. Working with Tessera AI Agents (10%)
Use the Tessera platform and its agents to document legacy processes and reports, draft configuration workbooks and test scripts, and run conversion reconciliations, and review and approve what they produce.
Contribute your Oracle PPM and capital accounting know-how back into the Tessera platform, so the agents get better at this work with every engagement.
Required Qualifications
12+ years in Oracle project accounting, including 5+ years hands-on with Oracle Fusion Cloud PPM and at least two full-lifecycle Fusion PPM implementations that migrated capital project accounting from a legacy ERP or non-ERP environment.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology or a related field.
Who This Role Is Not For
If your PPM experience is mainly project billing or services projects, with little capital accounting, this is not the role. If you prefer to reproduce the legacy system in Oracle rather than challenge it, the same applies. And if you have configured Oracle PPM but never owned a conversion reconciliation, a cutover or a first period close, you will find this uncomfortable. We are asking for someone who is at ease owning the capital accounting design end to end, and who is willing to have their judgment turned into platform capability rather than kept as personal expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Cloud certification in Project Management or Project Portfolio Management.
Prior migration experience from a specific legacy platform such as SAP FI/CO and Project Systems, Oracle E-Business Suite Projects, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, or a homegrown or spreadsheet-based capital tracking process.
Experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality or another multi-unit environment with a recurring store build program and a high volume of concurrent capital projects.
Experience with phased or multi-wave rollouts across regions, brands or legal entities.
Familiarity with integration points between Oracle Fusion PPM and General Ledger, Payables, Procurement, Fixed Assets, Inventory and Cost Management.
Experience integrating Oracle Fusion PPM with a construction project management platform such as Procore, IBM Tririga or Yardi.
Exposure to Project Billing and Project Contracts for franchise build-outs, landlord allowance billing or intercompany construction services.
Experience with Oracle Fusion Lease Accounting, and with Oracle EPM for store profitability, allocation and return-on-investment reporting.
First-Year Measures of Success
Month 1: Fluent in the Tessera platform. Current-state capital processes and the legacy reporting inventory documented. The major design decisions (Budgetary Control, internal labor capitalization, tenant improvement allowances, security model) framed with options for leadership.
Month 3: Fit-gap complete with dispositions and traceability. Conference room pilots delivered and the design signed off, including the chart of accounts and Subledger Accounting with the Financials consultant. Conversion strategy and in-flight project treatment agreed.
Month 6: System integration testing passed and conversion cycles reconciled to the General Ledger. The capital reporting suite built and validated. Training ready for construction and field users.
This role requires a blend of capital accounting acumen, legacy systems analysis and Oracle Fusion configuration expertise, to deliver a clean, standard-aligned Project Accounting solution that supports the store development program, asset reporting and the financial close.
