Mechanical Engineer Vehicle Integration and Product Design
Posted Updated
Description
You will design vehicle-specific brackets, mounts, and mechanical interfaces for sensor and compute integration on heavy equipment. You will create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials; improve enclosures, harness-routing hardware, and fixtures; support environmental testing; validate installations on physical vehicles; and troubleshoot field integration issues.
Responsibilities
- Design brackets, mounts, and mechanical interfaces for sensor and compute integration
- Integrate enclosures, sensors, and compute hardware onto new vehicle platforms
- Improve enclosures, harness-routing hardware, and mounting fixtures using field feedback and DFM/DFA
- Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials
- Support vibration, shock, and thermal qualification testing
- Perform vehicle fit-checks and installation validation
- Troubleshoot mechanical integration issues and iterate designs using manufacturing and field feedback
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience
- Experience designing brackets, mounts, or structural components using sheet metal, machined parts, or weldments
- Proficiency with CAD such as Onshape or SolidWorks
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles
- Hands-on experience with hardware, fixtures, and prototypes
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% within the United States
- Ability to climb onto heavy construction equipment for measurements, fit-checks, and installation validation
