Lead Principal Backend Engineer Stablecoin Payments

You will own the technical direction for wallets, deposits, payouts, settlements, and balances. You will design and evolve crypto payment gateway and stablecoin payment flows, lead the migration to a double-entry ledger, build resilient financial integrations, establish engineering standards, review designs, and mentor engineers while continuing to ship code.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the crypto payment gateway, including checkout, payment pages, payment links, webhooks, and merchant APIs
• Architect and evolve stablecoin and crypto deposit, payout, refund, and settlement flows
• Lead the migration from counter-based balances to a ledger with zero financial drift
• Design resilient integrations with custody and liquidity providers
• Define high-level designs and review low-level designs
• Set standards for API design, idempotency, webhooks, testing, and observability
• Mentor engineers and partner with Product, Compliance, and Finance Ops

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• 3+ years leading technical direction in payments, fintech, exchange, or custody
• Deep Node.js or Go experience in large, long-lived codebases
• Experience building or operating a payment gateway or payment service provider
• Experience leading architecture and system design for production platforms
• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, concurrency, safe migrations, and performance tuning
• Proven design of idempotent, auditable money-movement and reconciliation systems
• Experience integrating third-party financial or custody APIs and signed webhooks
• Strong security mindset and clear written communication
